Maybe you overheard someone bragging about having committed a crime, or you know someone who is driving a stolen car or hiding from the police. Perhaps you see something that just doesn’t look right, like a strange car or a person acting sneaky. You might even see someone carrying a gun or knife or keeping a weapon in their locker.

At Crime Stoppers of Niagara, we are dedicated to protecting our community in a variety of ways. Here are just a few examples:
Protecting Our Tip Line: Our tip line is a critical component of our program, receiving over 16,500 tips per year. We take the security of this line seriously, which is why it’s staffed by officers and investigators assigned to Crime Stoppers. Our team monitors and processes the citizen information collected, ensuring that each tip is handled with the utmost confidentiality and care.
Protecting Our Seniors: Sadly, our seniors are often targeted by criminals. That’s why we’ve partnered with seniors in our community to provide a proactive program to assist the police in solving these crimes. By working together, we can help protect our seniors and contribute to an improved quality of life for them.
Protecting Our Students: We believe that students have an important role to play in preventing crime and victimization. That’s why we offer complete anonymity to students who report crimes or suspicious activity. By promoting responsibility and empowering students to take action, we can create a safer community for everyone.
Protecting Our Environment: Illegal dumping is a growing problem in Niagara, costing the region thousands of dollars every year. The Niagara Region is the traditional home to many First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe nations. The land is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Agreement.
We acknowledge and thank the Indigenous communities and peoples of this region for their ongoing stewardship of the land and water. We respect their longstanding relationships with this territory, as well as their cultural and spiritual practices. We also recognize the importance of the history, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples in shaping our community and our world today.
This land acknowledgement is an important step towards reconciliation and serves as a reminder of the ongoing work needed to build positive relationships with Indigenous peoples and communities. We commit to continuing to learn from and work alongside Indigenous peoples towards a better future for all.
We urge all community members to get involved in community policing initiatives and work together with law enforcement to prevent crime in our neighbourhoods.
